Taking up BS in Information Technology in college?

In these modern times, modern technology has made life easier. Using technology is now part of our lives and create a big impact on our communication to individuals and also to businesses. That's why it's an advantage if you have knowledge in the field of Information Technology or IT.

One of the in-deman jobs today is in the field of IT and it offers a very high salary. It is a necessity for companies around the world to have IT employees no matter how big or small their business is. That's why a lot of students want to take up courses related to IT in college.
But there are lots of things to consider in taking up IT courses. Is it your passion or you will just do it because it is in-demand? Think it very well before you make a move or else you will end up like punishing yourself.

This is based on my experience being an IT student. It's my passion for technology that made my decision to take up this course. I just finished 1st year and going to 2nd year this coming school year. Everything is doing well so far for me. But it's not easy as I thought before.

I passed all the subjects and I am contented with my grades. All minor subjects are okay but the major one is really really hard. I'm talking about the programming subject.

We are using the Turbo C and C++ which is basic language for programming. It really extracts your brain analyzing those problems so that you can be able to make the code and run your program. We really had our hard times during hands-on exams. Individually, you will be given problems, make your code and run it. The worst thing is that you can't be able to copy with your seatmate because you have different problems so you will have to do it on your own or you will fail.

Not all of my classmates were lucky to pass this subject in our 1st year. In fact six of them were failed. They cannot take the next programming subject in the curriculum because it's a pre-requisite so they need to retake and pass it first.

It was just the beginning of the difficulties being an IT student. As you go in the higher years, the major subjects are getting harder and harder as what the higher students said.
So think it very well. Not just a couple of times but hundreds of times if you are capable and suitable in getting this course or not. It's better if this is your passion because you will really love this course. I did not discourage everyone but I'm just reminding them based on my experience with my classmates. I hope this will help in your decision.

God bless!😊
